Facebook DOES allow ringtone advertising. Just not for you.

Facebook Fail

It’s kind a funny how everyone seems to have its own price.

As an affiliate marketer, I did discover the power of Facebook’s still pretty young advertising and I’m doing pretty well with it for now. The interesting thing is that Facebook seems to be very strict with their ads. I’d say that every 2nd ad copy of mine gets decleaned because of minor things like not mentioning the name of the advertised product. Hilarious.

If you are looking to advertise ringtone offers on Facebook - forget it. At least on Facebook’s official advertising network (Socialmedia does allow almost every type of ads).

ringtone_fail.gifYou aren’t even allowed to use the word “Ringtones” or “Ringtone” on ANY ad copy. So it’s pretty difficult to find out synonyms for “Ringtone” that they haven’t blocked yet.

Because of those argumentations I never tried to do ringtones on Facebook although I know some people do manage to get shady ads through the review process.

The really funny part of this story…

When I logged on today I classically found myself on the Facebook start page. Nothing special you’d think IF there wouldn’t be this ad block (highlighted in red by me)

Thats a classical Jamster/Jamba flash banner advertising for Jamster / Jamba ringtone subscriptions. Oh, did I just heard “Ringtones”? I guess Facebook doesn’t allow people to advertise this kind niche on Facebook?

I guess everyone has a price.

For me, it seems that Facebook is only restricting ringtone advertising for regular advertisers. Pretty unethical from their part. Either you allow everyone to advertise it, or you disallow it completely.

Funny, I found your blog because I just tried to do a CPAE ringtones offer on facebook and got shut down. Peckers.. Took me a while to figure out it was the word ringtones that was the problem.. ARgh! Would be great if they had a list of banned words/topics.
