Something like a half year ago I noticed the guys at Unique Blog Designs (UBD) for the first time. Since then, they claim to be offering custom Wordpress blog designs. The guy behind this company is Nate Whitehill.
The reason I’m referring to this is that Uberaffiliate (UA) has got himself a new theme for his blog which was made by UBD. Quite frankly, I think now it does look like every single one of all those other “Make money online” blogs, which isn’t a good thing.
I still can’t believe that they call their themes something unique. They pretty much all seem to come from an internal “sandbox” theme. If you look at UA’s theme, you instantly will experience some deja-vu. It just freaking looks like all those “unique” designs that those guys from UBD have made before!
Let’s just compare Uber Affiliate’s blog design to John Chow’s design.

Okay, now lets take a look at the differences…
Despite from a different css styling and new color scheme, there aren’t many differences to look at!
Just freaking look at it!
- Both logos on the upper left
- Both blogs have their “Popular posts” box EXACTLY on the same spot!
- Both “Sponsors” boxes on the same spot
- Instead of the Lamborghini banner part, they just used a CENTERED (omg) Banner. Easier, huh?
- “Free Make Money Online Book” box replaced by “Subscribe to Uber Affiliate” box.
- They just removed John Chows “Recommended Money Makers” box. Less work, I guess.
- Same “threaded comments” plugin. Not even styled.
C’mon. If you look closer at it, you can take a look at more resemblances.
Also, those huge boxes at the top just makes it annoying to have to scroll down for the content. I would’ve integrated them into an Ajax accordeon box to avoid those issues.
I seriously don’t know how many money those guys paid for their designs. But every $100 theme designer at DP could do better. Much better!
Reselling Exclusive Themes
Another interesting thing about UBD is that they also claim to be selling “Unique Blog Themes” for around $79 to $99. This is another very misleading thing about them. Despite the fact that most of those “exclusive” called themes also seem to based on the same skeleton, those themes are resold several times! They also seem to be reselling the very known “Premium News Theme” by Adii. And not even Adii, the creator, himself calls his theme “exclusive”.
IMHO, every web developer living in a 1st world country that even considers selling high quality and really exclusive themes for $79 is officially an idiot. You could aswell just go out and prostitute yourself.
I really don’t want to know how many customers they already have tricked by just copy+pasting all those “guru” blog themes. Seems like a nice way to generate almost free buzz.
Although I don’t call Uberaffiliate a wannabe guru like JohnChow obviously is. John uses his blog to promote himself and to earn money by promoting products to noobs that want to get rich quick online. On the other side, Uber Affiliate has some very nice tips for affiliate marketers on his blog which may be worth pure gold for some of us. That’s why I think that his blog would’ve deserved better.

Thank you - I have been saying this for some time now, Unique Blog Designs are NOT Unique!! - I’m sure they have a template ready for the next sucker getting their blog “designed”
